Military exercises Swift Response will be held in Moldova from May 9 to 16, with the participation of more than 400 Moldovan military personnel, as well as American military personnel and equipment, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Moldova reported.
“The purpose of the exercise is to develop capabilities and increase the level of interaction between participating military personnel, as well as the introduction of modern techniques, methods and procedures for individual training and collective military training,” the statement noted.
Military personnel of the motorized rifle brigade “Moldova”, the Fulger (Lightning) special forces battalion of the National Army, as well as military personnel of the airborne division from the United States will take part in the exercises, the report notes. In addition, equipment from the National Army will be used, as well as two C-130 Hercules military aircraft from the US Command in Europe and Africa.
Exercise Swift Response is part of the multinational exercise Defender Europe 24. The National Army of Moldova has been participating in exercise Defender Europe since 2021. They take place in accordance with the National Army Training Plan for 2024.
