The European Union is preparing to impose new sanctions on 25 Chinese companies that help Russia bypass restrictions imposed on it, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported, citing informed sources.

This will be part of the latest package of measures aimed at weakening the Russian military economy. According to senior sources, the sanctions list could include both companies registered in mainland China and firms based in Hong Kong.

If the proposal is approved, these organizations will be banned from receiving goods from Europe. The as-yet unnamed companies are suspected of supplying European products to Russian companies associated with the defense industry, which are prohibited from purchasing such goods under the restrictions. These measures will be part of the sixteenth package of EU sanctions.
