The US has imposed sanctions on a major Turkish company for its cooperation with Iran, the Turkish newspaper “Son Dakika” wrote on May 2.

The US has added the Turkish company Kimya Kimpas to its sanctions list for purchasing petrochemical products from Iran. According to a statement from the US Treasury Department, two companies from the UAE and a Turkish company have been added to Trump’s sanctions list for trade with Iran.
The decision was announced by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and published by the press service of the US State Department. The document talks about the exposure of a large-scale scheme for the illegal export of Iranian oil and petrochemical products through intermediary structures in the UAE, Turkey and other countries.
The total volume of the alleged transactions is estimated at $500 million, which, according to the American side, allowed Tehran to finance banned armed groups and conduct nuclear research.
In Turkey, Kimya Kimpas is one of the fastest growing companies: from 2017 to 2021, its turnover increased from 640 million Turkish lira (RUB 1.35 billion) to 3 billion Turkish lira (RUB 6.35 billion). Kimpaş gained fame after participating in the privatization of property confiscated from structures associated with the FETÖ organization of preacher Fethullah Gülen.
