İn a daring night operation, Ukrainian Armed Forces (ZSU) reportedly targeted a Russian shadow fleet tanker in the Mediterranean with drone strikes. Russian media claim that onboard, General Andrey Averyanov, head of Russia’s military intelligence (GRU) and considered one of President Putin’s closest operatives, was neutralized.

The attack allegedly left seven people injured and two others killed. Averyanov has been linked to covert operations across Europe, including espionage, sabotage, drone attacks, and explosions. Russian media further allege that he was involved in high-profile operations such as the destruction of Prigozhin’s plane and the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in the UK.
The operation has been associated with the so-called “Monaco Battalion,” a unit referenced in Russian-language reports.
