
The UN Security Council approved a new package of unprecedentedly tough sanctions against North Korea. On Wednesday, 2 March, according to Reuters. The agency notes that most of the work on the creation of restrictions set jointly held the power of the USA and China.
Under the new sanctions regime, all goods transported through the North Korean border, will be subject to careful examination. In addition, personal sanctions imposed on 16 individuals and 12 entities, including sales representatives against Pyongyang in Syria, Vietnam and Iran.
The introduction of new restrictive measures commented on US President Barack Obama: “The resolution sends a clear message to Pyongyang – he should stop dangerous programs and choose the way of improving the lives of its people.”
New sanctions against North Korea came in response to a test by Pyongyang in January 2016 of a hydrogen bomb and launch long-range missiles in February. The US imposed new unilateral sanctions against North Korea on February 18.
