United States President Barack Obama in a conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia must stop air strikes on the positions of the moderate opposition in Syria, BBC reported.
“In particular, President Obama stressed the importance of Russia played a constructive role by stopping its air raids on moderate opposition’s location in Syria,” – said in a statement the White House.
The two presidents also discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine. Barack Obama said that the pro-Russian separatists have to fulfill the conditions of the Minsk agreements.
The Kremlin press service also reported that the US and Russian presidents Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin held talks on the phone, during which they discussed the situation in Ukraine and Syria.
According to the Kremlin communique, the two presidents expressed their support for efforts to achieve a ceasefire and humanitarian assistance in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine.
