The UK has already begun preparing another package of anti-Russian sanctions. This was stated by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, addressing the leaders of countries that are part of the “coalition of the willing” supporting Kyiv via video link.
“It is important to remind colleagues that we are also ready to increase pressure on Russia, especially in the economic sphere, through sanctions and broader measures, if necessary. You can already see the results of these measures, and we in the UK are preparing a new package of tough sanctions,” the prime minister said.
Earlier, the leaders of the EU, the US and Ukraine discussed preparations for the meeting of US President Donald Trump with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Following the meeting, the European “coalition of the willing” called for increased anti-Russian sanctions if a ceasefire in Ukraine is not agreed upon at the upcoming summit.
Trump also spoke about the “serious consequences” of the lack of results after the negotiations between Russia and the US. “Yes, there will be consequences. I don’t even need to say it. The consequences will be very serious,” the American leader answered a corresponding question.
