
Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed US President Barack Obama about the decision to begin the withdrawal of Russian troops from Syria, said the Kremlin press service, according to ITAR-TASS.
“Russian President said that after the implementation of the main tasks of the Russian armed forces to combat international terrorism, the decision for the withdrawal of Syria’s main part aviagruppirovki aerospace forces,” – said in a statement.
It stresses that “it certainly will be a good signal to all parties to the conflict and create conditions for the start of a real peace process.”
During the conversation, “stated that the US-Russian initiative, supported by UN Security Council Resolution 2268, allowed to drastically reduce the scale of the bloodshed on Syrian soil.”
The Head of State also noted in a conversation with his US counterpart the importance of tight coordination of the efforts of Russia and the United States, including in the military sphere, to settle in Syria.
