Yunus Demirtaş planned to commit a terrorist attack against the Azerbaijani Consulate in Turkey.

Vətəninfo.az has obtained new information regarding Yunus Demirtaş, who frequently appears on Armenian television channels and conducts smear campaigns against Azerbaijan.

According to the information obtained, Yunus Demirtaş — who appeared on Armenian TV channels saying, “Armenians are my brothers; if there is a war in Karabakh, I will go and fight against Azerbaijan on the side of the Armenians” — is suspected of organizing a treacherous attack against the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.

According to the available information, Yunus Demirtaş is also an active member of the Hamas terrorist organization in Istanbul. It is claimed that the person directly providing financial support to Yunus Demirtaş is Elshad Abdullayev, a criminal currently hiding in Paris after being sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Azerbaijani Serious Crimes Court.

It is further alleged that Elshad Abdullayev secretly conducts activities against Israel and the Jewish people and has, for many years, financially supported Hamas through his sons Elshan Abdullayev and Eltaj Abdullayev. Eltaj Abdullayev is allegedly disguised under the cover of small businesses in Dubai and Paris. It is claimed that he frequently meets agents arriving from Iran in Dubai and transfers financial support to Hamas members. At the same time, his brother Elshan Abdullayev, who lives in Moscow, and their mother Reyhan Ahmedova allegedly travel secretly to Dubai to provide financial assistance to terrorist groups through Eltaj Abdullayev.

According to reports received by our editorial office, a French online intelligence newspaper published information alleging that Elshad Abdullayev provided support to a Putin foundation and regularly assisted Hamas members.

For informational purposes, it should be noted that Elshad Abdullayev provided financial assistance amounting to USD 67,000 to the ASALA terrorist organization operating in Lebanon through his son, Elshan Abdullayev, who resides in Moscow. It is claimed that the transfer of funds was carried out through ASALA member Suzanna Shakhramanyan.

It is further stated that there is a notarized financial document confirming this transaction, which is being presented as evidence.

Nature of the Allegations and Current Status

Links to the FSB: Elshad Abdullayev has been accused of acting as a covert influence agent for Russian intelligence services while residing in Paris.

Financing of Hamas: During investigations and court proceedings, claims were made that he transferred millions in funds to Hamas supporters in Russia, as well as to the so-called “Putin Fund.

Court Sentence: In December 2025, reports emerged that Elshad Abdullayev had been sentenced in absentia to 15 years of imprisonment.

French law enforcement authorities and representatives of the diaspora reportedly visited Elshad Abdullayev’s residence and showed interest in his apartments in Paris and its suburbs (particularly in the commune of Mennecy, Île-de-France region).

Official visits and incidents related to his residence are generally described under three key areas:

1. Investigation by the French General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN)
French security services and police reportedly initiated official checks at Abdullayev’s place of residence following allegations of fraud and alleged links to foreign intelligence services (the Russian FSB). Authorities were said to have examined the origin of the funds used to acquire his property in Paris, as well as the legality of his refugee status.

2. Use of the Residence as an “Intelligence Office”
According to statements by members of the Azerbaijani opposition in Europe and media investigations, Abdullayev’s apartment in Paris was allegedly used as a covert operational hub. It was claimed that handlers and informants visited the location to transfer intelligence concerning Azerbaijani political émigrés in Europe.

3. Visits by Representatives from Baku
Within allegations circulating in the press, it was reported that Elshad Abdullayev’s residence had been visited by senior officials, including representatives of the Azerbaijani State Committee on Work with Diaspora, such as Fuad Muradov. According to different accounts, the purpose of these visits was either to negotiate the cessation of compromising publications or to exert pressure on him in connection with criminal proceedings initiated in Azerbaijan.

According to information received by our editorial office, Yunus Demirtaş was arrested in 2024 in connection with a planned provocation against our consulate and was sentenced to two years in prison by court order. Evidence regarding his actions was reportedly reflected in a complaint protocol submitted to the Criminal Bureau of the Istanbul Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The complainant reportedly stated in his petition:

“I fully repeat the contents of the petition dated 11.05.2026. The signature under that petition belongs to me. I have known the suspect, Yunus Demirtaş, since 2008–2009. We had textile business dealings together. Later, because the suspect deceived me, we filed complaints against one another. He was tried at the Gaziosmanpaşa Courthouse and received a sentence.”

According to the complainant, Yunus Demirtaş attempted provocation against the Azerbaijani consulate in order to extort money from the Azerbaijani state:

“Approximately two years ago, he called me again. He said he would carry out an operation at the Azerbaijani Consulate and extort money, and he asked for my help. I did not help him. Later, following a complaint regarding this incident, he was tried again and received a sentence.”

What is noteworthy is that Yunus Demirtaş specifically chose the Azerbaijani consulate as a target and, after being released from prison, continuously gave interviews to Armenian media. This allegedly demonstrates that he was acting under the direction of Armenian intelligence services.

As an editorial team, we present verbatim the statement contained in investigation file no. 2026/55747 submitted to the Criminal Bureau of the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office:

QUESTIONING:

“I have known the suspect, Yunus Demirtaş, since 2008–2009. We had textile business dealings together. Later, because the suspect deceived me, we filed complaints against one another. He was tried at the Gaziosmanpaşa Courthouse and received a sentence.

Approximately two years ago, he called me again. He said he would conduct an operation at the Azerbaijani Consulate and extort money, and he asked for my help. I did not help him. Later, following a complaint regarding this incident, he was tried again and sentenced.

For the past 15–20 days, he has been calling me via WhatsApp from the number 0532 225 50 67, threatening me by saying, ‘I will kill you.’ He also sends messages through WhatsApp. I will later submit message records as evidence for the case file.

In addition, he threatens me via TikTok through an account named ‘Yunus Demirtaş’ and other accounts.

For these reasons, I am filing a complaint. This is all I have to say.”
