In Europe, closed the bank, money launderers from Azerbaijan

The European Central Bank (ECB) after treatment Finance and Capital Market Commission (FCMC) to cancel the license of the Latvian bank Trasta Komercbanka, reported the Latvian media.

License Trasta Komercbanka decided to cancel because the bank for a long time allowed serious violations of important areas, and the Commission concluded that regulate the activity of the bank is not possible.

The bank’s long-term work also ascertained violations of the legalization of criminally extracted means and the financing of terrorism.

Closure of the bank is of interest because the bank has a branch in Azerbaijan. This branch mentioned in the money laundering.

Several years ago, Trasta Komercbanka created in Azerbaijan subsidiary TKB Leasing. As it became known from sources in the banking sector, the main feature of this lay in the translation and distribution of the money in European countries.

For this one-day firms were used, registered in Latvia and offshore areas. We are talking about the legalization of dirty money, for which the bank took an impressive commission of 20 per cent.

In 2014, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General’s Office conducted an investigation in connection with the illegal actions of the head of the Azerbaijani representation of the Latvian joint-stock company «Trasta Komercbanka».

The investigation revealed that the head of the Azerbaijani representation of the joint stock company Beyal Mursalov under the pretext of the purchase of equipment for greenhouses transferred 600 thousand. Dollars from a bank account resident of Baku to the bank accounts of foreign companies. He appropriated the money. In connection with this criminal case was filed on Articles 178.3.2 (swindle) and 308.1 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code.

This bank was engaged in money laundering not only from Azerbaijan, but also from all the CIS countries. So in 2014, at the disposal of the journalists of the Center for the study of corruption and organized crime (OCCRP) were bank documents indicating that the Latvian Trasta Komercbanka was the final point of the route, on which billions of dollars were withdrawn from Russia in the framework of a huge scheme to legalize funds.
