ASTUTE MARITIME Services Pte. Ltd. is a Singapore-based ship management company incorporated on 27 October 2017. Operating from the Nordic European Centre, the company specializes in ship management services, with management consultancy as a secondary business activity. Although the company is not currently designated under major international sanctions regimes, its involvement in managing vessels engaged in Russian oil transportation has attracted sanctions and compliance scrutiny.

As an ISM (International Safety Management) manager, Astute Maritime has provided safety and technical management services for vessels operating in international trade. One of the company’s most notable managed vessels is the AURA MARIS (IMO: 9347308).

Between January 2024 and July 2025, AURA MARIS transported approximately 5.3 million barrels of Russian crude oil, making it a significant participant in Russian oil exports during that period. Due to its involvement in the transportation of Russian crude oil, the vessel became subject to sanctions imposed by the United Kingdom, the European Union, Switzerland, Canada, and Ukraine.

While Astute Maritime Services Pte. Ltd. itself has not been sanctioned, its role as the vessel’s ISM manager establishes an operational connection to a tanker sanctioned by multiple jurisdictions. This association increases the company’s sanctions exposure and compliance risk, particularly for financial institutions, insurers, charterers, and counterparties conducting maritime due diligence.

Fleet activity associated with the company has also been recorded across the CIS Pacific and Central China regions, including port calls at Vladivostok, Slavyanka, and Zhoushan, reflecting operations in areas linked to Russian and regional energy trade.

Although the available information does not indicate that Astute Maritime Services Pte. Ltd. directly purchased, sold, or owned Russian crude oil, its management of vessels involved in transporting sanctioned Russian cargo places the company within the broader network supporting Russian maritime oil exports. As a result, the company may warrant enhanced due diligence from organizations assessing sanctions, regulatory, and maritime compliance risks.
